"Arugam Bay"
Is the southern most beach resort of the Eastern cost. It is a very popular surfing center ranked 3rd among the best 20 beaches of the world by the British surfers Association. It is situated in close proximity to Lahugala National park. – famous for Elephants, Pottuvil Lagoon – a bird watchers paradise and Kumana bird Sanctuary. A road fro m here also leads down the coast to the Panama and Okanda, gateway to Yala Eastern National park making it also a wildlife bluff’s delight:
Many guesthouses and a few hotels have sprung up on the shore of the bay around the fishing village. Arugambay has once again turned i to the surfing hotspot that it was and features many international surfing competitions annually. The surfing season in Arugam bay, starts in April and end in October. During this season the wind is predominantly offshore Arugam Bay point.

"Hikkaduwa"
Hikkaduwa is located on the Coastal or Southern Rail Line (connecting Colombo through to Matara). It is also located on the A2 highway, connecting Colombo to Wellawaya, which runs mostly parallel to the shore, through the town. Hikkaduwa's economy was traditionally based on fishing and coconut cultivation. This was replaced by tourism when its golden sandy beaches were discovered.
It is a well-known international destination for board-surfing. reputed as the second best surfing spot in Sri Lanka. Hikkaduwa Coral Sanctuary - located a few hundred metres offshore. The sanctuary has approximately seventy varieties of multi-coloured corals.
